In this video Mike Granato & Shaun Webb from Athletic Motion Golf break down the difference between manually shallowing the club (all the bowing, swiveling, and wrist manipulation you see taught constantly) and the automatic shallowing that actually happens in every great player's swing. Using a multiple-time winner as the example, they track his right arm elevation and wrist rotation from address to the top. His arm elevates just 20 degrees to the top (35 to 55), and his wrist rotates only 2 degrees there, nowhere near the manual "swivel and bow" move so many golfers are taught. Coming down, he simply lowers that same arm back to where it started, and that alone shallows the club onto plane. No manual wrist work required. They also expose why so many golfers think they're already shallow: filming your swing from too high an angle can visually flatten a steep move and trick you into believing you've fixed something you haven't. Then they demonstrate live how a simple hands-on backswing correction gets a steep golfer's arm working up and out instead of collapsing in, and introduce the Arm Shark training aid, which gives instant audible and tactile feedback the moment your arm over-bends, so you can train this exact movement on your own. 🎁 FREE Training Here: 🎁 Make your BEST swing your NORMAL swing: https://athleticmotiongolf.com/consistency Chapters: 00:00 The two types of shallowing 00:25 What "manual shallowing" actually looks like 01:07 Why this doesn't fix a steep downswing 01:30 Good players don't want the club laid off like this 02:10 A multiple-winner's real numbers: arm elevation and wrist 02:33 He starts at 35 degrees and most golfers do the opposite 02:56 Why lowering the arm looks like a normal backswing 03:13 He elevates just 20 degrees to the top 03:35 The tiny wrist rotation that creates "the sickle" 03:56 Lowering the arm as much as it lifted 04:25 Still lowering at lead arm parallel 04:48 If you've been told "leave the arms up," this is why it's wrong 05:04 The big dial vs the little dial 05:22 Why your camera angle can trick you into thinking you're shallow 06:00 Why manually shallowing drops the club under (kryptonite) 06:38 Why this swing doesn't require hitting a ton of balls 06:55 The golfer who's too on plane doesn't exist 07:12 Shallowing happens early in the backswing, not late 07:28 Demonstrating the fix live on a steep golfer 08:00 What happens if you just drop the club from a propped position 08:20 It's almost always a backswing issue 08:41 The most common (and limiting) backswing move 09:22 Why towels and gloves under the arm don't fix this 09:38 Introducing the Arm Shark 10:14 How to position the fin correctly 10:51 How it teaches arm elevation and lowering together 11:30 The two-step fix: work the arm out, then stop over-managing the wrist 12:06 It gives zero help, just pass or fail feedback 13:01 Wearing it during your warm-up
